The Speed 40 DB carbon wheelset is, as the name implies, a high-end racing model and was developed especially for disc brakes. Thanks to the 2-WAY FIT â„¢ technology developed by Fulcrum, the wheelset can be combined with tubeless and wire tires. In addition to aerodynamics, the keywords are low weight and ease of movement, features that are ensured thanks to the use of USB â„¢ ceramic bearings. They are characterized by extreme performance, as it reduces the coefficient of friction and eliminates internal friction, so that more energy is available for the forward movement.

2-Way Fit â„¢

Tubeless technology was used first in the automotive sector, then in motorcycles and finally in bicycle racing. After entering the world of mountain biking, the time has come for its use on the road: Fulcrum has developed the 2-Way Fit â„¢ technology to ensure the perfect compatibility of Fulcrum tubeless rims even with wire tires with air chamber. The 2-Way Fit wheels are especially versatile and therefore perfectly adapted to every situation. Thanks to a special marking in the valve area, the chambers are mounted with great precision and the chamber remains firmly stabilized within the wire cover. The tubeless tire valve can also be used safely. This offers the undeniable advantage that air can never penetrate during mounting due to an inaccurate position. The advantages are indisputable: tests have shown an incomparably high increase in smoothness. The absence of an inner tube avoids friction with the tire and the perfect adherence of the tire to the rim prevents energy loss. A tubeless tire cannot abruptly leak air through a hole and suddenly puncture, which is a clear safety advantage. There is also no risk of Snake-Bite, as there is no inner tube that can be damaged. And in case of a puncture? Do not worry! One of the advantages of the Fulcrum 2-Way Fit system is the possibility of removing the tubeless valve and inserting a normal air chamber that will take you home.

AFS Axle System â„¢

Axial Fixing is the solution developed by Fulcrum to fix the disc brake to the hub. The connection given by the abutment surface of the binding is greater than known standards, which allows greater structural rigidity and, therefore, more precise and efficient braking.

USB â„¢

Fulcrum has always been admired for the extreme smoothness and reliability of its hubs. These characteristics are due to the fact that all projects are developed in the R&D department and that almost manic attention is paid to every detail. USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) ceramic bearing hubs further increase the smoothness of the wheels and reduce weight and maintenance. Comparative tests have shown that USB bearings run 50% smoother than standard bearings. An increase in your performance in competition or even a walk with your friends is now easier.

2: 1 Two-to-One â„¢

As the rider pedals at full power, the rotation of the sprocket assembly causes the spokes of the freewheel to yield, causing a loss of tire tension. This causes excessive flexing of the assembly and this inevitably causes a loss of energy. Fulcrum has solved this classic problem in cycling with its patent 2: 1 Two-to-One Spoke Ratio, that is, with twice the radii in critical areas. In this way, two spokes take over the task of one, performance and wheel spin are kept low and the transmission of the athlete's energy becomes much more efficient. Thanks to this patent, the spoke tensions are more balanced and the fatigue resistance of the rim, hub and spokes is much higher.
