SPD
SHIMANO developed the SPD to meet the demands of a rapidly growing new group called MTB. By eliminating hooks and straps and integrating the pedal and shoe sole into a common component for power transmission, SHIMANO changed the world of cycling. This not only benefited the power transmission, but also the rider's control over their bike in increasingly adventurous cycling disciplines. Meanwhile, there is no longer a universal style of MTB, and consequently there is no longer a single SPD pedal. The landscape is varied: from fast XC races to steep, rocky, wet, rooted and muddy trails. SHIMANO SPD pedals keep up with the beat. Shoe pedal designs evolve to meet the demands of your personal riding style, yet still offer safety, reliability and off-road durability. Systems engineer. Tested by professionals. The choice is yours.
Dynalast
The elevation of the toe box of a cycling shoe plays an essential role in promoting pedaling efficiency. If it is too high, it can put more strain on the plantar, calf, and back of the thigh muscles. If it is too low, it results in a flexed and inefficient pedaling motion. Extensive research by Shimano R&D experts has resulted in a superior shoe last design with optimized toe lift that promotes a smoother and more energy efficient upward movement. Shimano Dynalast has been developed from feedback from professional riders and helps reduce energy loss on long rides. This leaves you with more power for the final sprint across the finish line.
Superior technology
The construction of the upper part of the shoe and the closure systems adapt to the characteristics of the foot.
Surround Wrapping upper encases the entire foot with a seamless piece of leather for a better fit with fewer gaps between shoe and foot.
