The Perfect All-rounder: Zipp's 404 Firecrest Tubeless Disc
With a 58mm profile, the 404 Firecrest Tubeless is ideal for fast road races, time trials and triathlons, Gran Fondos and riding on mixed terrain. The inner width of the wheelset is 23mm and allows the use of wider tubeless tires with reduced air pressure.This is an important component of Total System Efficiency™, or TSE™, a Zipp concept for speed on various road surfaces and changing driving conditions. Specifically, the TSE™ focuses on overcoming specific speed obstacles: wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibration losses. Zipp's ABLC™-Sawtooth™ technology uses a sophisticated dimple pattern to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Zipp's use of hookless rims on 404 Firecrest wheels is an integral part of Zipp's "Making You Faster" approach. With Hookless, the transition between tire and rim is smoother and more aerodynamic. Zipp's Hookless rims also have more efficient material distribution, resulting in lighter, more durable wheels.

Zipp tests the most promising tire shapes in the wind tunnel and on the road. This process led to Firecrest® tire technology (202, 303, 404 and 808 Firecrest® wheels), which more effectively controls airflow and center of pressure in the wheel, resulting in better aerodynamics, better handling in crosswinds and a better driving experience.
