The popular Lone Peak Low Mesh trail running shoe is back with an improved upper and cushioning.
Mesh upper
The mesh used in the upper is not only more breathable, but also more durable. The Footshape toe cap allows the toes to extend naturally, providing more comfort and stability. The thicker material in the heel and toe area protects your feet from impact. If water enters, the drainage system will facilitate evacuation. The top has been lowered slightly, which has helped make the 4.5 lighter and more flexible than the previous model. A four point Gaitertrap is a tab to attach a gaiter to minimize dirt ingress.
A-Bound midsole
The EVA midsole allows the shoe to bounce and cushion effectively. The A-Bound outsole and energy return compound sit directly under the foot, reducing impact to the ground and returning energy with every step. The EVA foam has been slightly modified in version 4.5 to give it greater resistance. The feet rest on a zero drop sole. This means that the heel and forefoot are the same distance from the ground for a more natural stride. Between the A-Bound midsole and the EVA midsole is Altra's Stoneguard. This protection against rocks, providing a feeling of smoothness and stability.
Maxtrac sole
On the trails, staying in control is crucial. Durable rubber provides the perfect combination of grip and traction. The Trailclaw studs are strategically placed under the metatarsals, reinforcing the anchor during propulsion and change of direction.
