Four preset battery modes (Performance, Endurance, Ultra, and Excursion) offer anywhere from 25 to 170 hours of recording time with GPS tracking. When you start a recording, you'll see an estimate of how much battery you have left in the current mode. If it's not enough, you can switch to another mode at any time.
Suunto 9 uses smart reminders based on your activity history to ensure you have a full charge for your next ride. If the watch detects that you are running low on battery power during an exercise, it automatically suggests that you switch to a different battery mode.

Suunto 9 Baro was designed and manufactured to meet the needs of the most demanding athletes and adventurers. Like all Suunto watches, it has been thoroughly tested by Suunto's internal test team and athletes from around the world, with thousands of hours of actual use in the most adverse conditions. Suunto 9 Baro has also been tested to US Military Standard 810H and has passed various endurance tests, like extreme temperatures, bumps and drops, sand and dust, and freezing rain, so you can enjoy it with complete confidence during any adventure.

GPS consumes a lot of battery, so on very long runs, battery life is often the factor that prevents accurate distance recording and tracking. Suunto's unique FusedTrack™ algorithm combines GPS with motion sensor data to improve tracking accuracy and distance. This allows you to extend battery life by lowering GPS power without sacrificing accuracy.
