Even cyclists who are already familiar with performance garments will immediately notice the new feel applied to this garment:
- Greater elasticity and less resistance to movement in all directions, given by the ability of the Karl Mayer machine to construct multiple seamless tubes (most 'sleeveless' base layers are technologically required to sew around the armhole, for example). The elimination of all seams (with the exception of two short binding stitches on the shoulders) obviously also greatly increases the comfort of such a form-fitting garment as a base layer.
- A lightweight material that is much stronger and less fragile, since unlike other seamless machines, Karl Mayer machines are capable of developing a true rip-proof mesh. The fabric is left without hemming, which also eliminates the seams of the garment: in fact, it can be cut and modified as the user wishes, without compromising the durability of the product.
- The fabric's 'honeycomb' pattern unfolds in different densities, along with open mesh sections, charting the thermal requirements and regional sweat rates of an athlete's body. This not only allows for greater comfort and protection for the rider, but also allows the volume of the product to be significantly reduced as much as possible.
Weighing in at 75 grams the result is a surprisingly sheer and lightweight base coat.
