The amount of carbohydrates that are available for energy is a key factor determining performance in endurance and high intensity intermittent exercise. Therefore, during exercises where carbohydrates can be depleted, it is important that you take in additional fuel to maintain performance and avoid fatigue. This ensures that blood glucose levels are maintained during exercise and muscle glycogen is restored . Etixx Energy Sport Bar contains approx. 29 g of carbohydrates and is suitable for before and / or during exercise. It can be used before exercise as part of a carbohydrate loading strategy to ensure that glycogen stores in the muscles are maximized before a competition. Athletes preparing for long and intense exercise should aim to eat a high carbohydrate diet in the days leading up to their competition and the Etixx Energy Sport Bar is an excellent snack to include in this strategy. During competitions where carbohydrate demand can deplete muscle glycogen, carbohydrate consumption during exercise is essential to maintain performance and minimize fatigue. Our carbohydrate stores are depleted after approx. 90 minutes of exercise. What amount of carbohydrates should we take into account?
- Exercises <1h (15): no need to consume carbohydrates during exercise
- Exercises 1-2h: 30 g of carbohydrates per hour of exercise (~ 1 energy bar)
- Exercises 2-3h: 60 g of carbohydrates per hour of exercise (~ 2 energy bars)
- Exercises> 2.5-3h: up to 90 g of carbohydrates per hour of exercise (~ up to 3 energy bars)
