Taking advantage of the possibilities of seamless Karl Mayer cut-stitch machines, Q36.5 has developed a technologically extreme take on the traditional undershirt.
Characteristics
Even riders already familiar with performance clothing will immediately notice the new feel applied to this garment:
- Greater elasticity and less resistance to movement in all directions, given by the Karl Mayer machine's ability to build multiple tubes without seams (most "sleeveless" base layers are technologically forced to sew around the armhole, for example). The removal of all seams (with the exception of two short binding stitches on the shoulders) obviously also greatly increases the comfort of such a form-fitting garment as a base layer.
- A lightweight material that is much more resistant and less fragile, since unlike other seamless machines, Karl Mayer machines are capable of developing a true "rip-proof" mesh. The fabric is left unhemmed, which also eliminates the seams of the garment: in fact, it can be cut and modified as the user wishes, without compromising the durability of the product.
- The "honeycomb" pattern of the fabric unfolds in varying densities, along with open mesh sections, mapping out the thermal requirements and regional sweat rates of an athlete's body. This not only allows greater comfort and protection for the cyclist, but also allows the volume of the product to be significantly reduced to the maximum possible.
Weighing in at 75 grams the result is a surprisingly sheer and light base layer.
